Product Descriptions:
Rheum emodi, also known as Himalayan rhubarb or India yellow dye, is a conventional natural dye used for textiles. A bright yellow color is obtained, as well as an odorous property.
The dye is made by drying the roots and rhizome of a Rheum Emodi. Dry powdered materials are extracted with dye in an aqueous medium. In combination with salt alum and copper sulphate, the dye produces a golden yellow shade on wool and silk when dissolved in soft water. Medicinal properties of this plant include anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
The same has purgative and astringent properties.

Dyeing Process:
(A) Pre-Mordant 1 :- Pre-treat the material with alum 10% of fabric weight at 80°C for 60 min.
(B) Dyeing :- Add the required amount of dye to the dye bath. PH of dye bath needs to be maintained at pH 3. If it’s higher than pH 3 add vinegar, if below pH 3, use lime or soda ash. Stir well to dissolve the dye. Add fabric to the dye bath and maintain at 90°C for 60-80 min. We check all our natural dyes at 30% of fabric weight, you can amend the percentage as per lighter or darker shade required.
(C) Post Treatment :- Conduct soaping of the dyed material with non-ionic detergent (0.5gpl) at 50°C for 35 min.
