Product Descriptions:

Traditionally, indigo is a natural dye used to produce gorgeous blues ranging from sky blue to a deep, almost black blue. Dyeing with indigo can be intimidating to some because it is a difficult dye to work with, mostly due to its insoluble nature. We used biological and eco-friendly methods to extract the main coloring component from the leaves of the Indigofera Tinctoria plant to solve this problem. Blue indigo contains the substance indigotin. Indigo is a dark blue crystalline powder that is not soluble in either water or alcohol. Firstly, we make it soluble by removing oxygen from fermentation vats before putting it into an alkaline vat. Natural indigo has the advantage of allowing you to achieve a deeper blue and because it is not water-soluble, you can wash it repeatedly without losing any color. Indigo doesn’t require a mordant to achieve the desired color. Natural indigo is a sustainable dye; after the pigment is extracted, the plant residue can be composted and used as a fertilizer and the water can be used to irrigate crops.
